Why has Linkedin changed?

Linkedin, like many social networking platforms, needs to keep updating its features to evolve, compete and stay relevant. In 2021, Linkedin launched new features like Linkedin Creator Mode, cover stories, and gender pronouns. 2022 is no different in that once again new features and edits have been made – the biggest of which is the new Linkedin Business Manager.

Top Linkedin changes for your campaign management

Launch of the new Linkedin business manager

One of the most noticeable changes to Linkedin in their 2022 update is the public launch of their new Linkedin Business Managerplatform in June. More like Facebook’s META Business Suite, this new platform makes it easier for organisations to manage the access and roles of different people, ad accounts, pages and more from one central place. You can also more easily share audiences. This is particularly great for marketing agencies and other people who manage multiple Linkedin pages and accounts.

Linkedin has created a New Business Manager training guideto help everyone make the most out of this 2022 update.

Easier than ever to merge accounts

If you have duplicate accounts that you have been meaning to bring together, it is now really easy to combine the accounts using the new ‘Merge Accounts’ feature on Linkedin.

Linkedin new features that are great for Linkedin marketing

You can now use the top of your profile to highlight past work, favourite products or favourite articles from either yourself or others. Use the highlight feature to pin the best items or add a variety of media (documents, photos, sites, videos, presentations) to showcase your best work, thoughts, opinions or any articles that are of the most interest to you.

It has never been so easy to post an event

You can use the new event tab feature under create a post and with a few simple steps on a quick form, your event is published and ready for promotion. You can also tie this into the new audio events feature.

Amass higher engagement by notifying employees about your posts

This useful new feature saves the hassle of informing your colleagues about your latest post so that they might like or share it in order to help you reach a wider audience. You can now notify them within the platform to capture their engagement when they are within Linkedin for a less annoying, more effective way to get your colleagues involved.

Leverage the data from the view page followers tab

If you often wonder who your followers are or who has viewed your page, you can now find out using the new Page Followers Tab. Using this tab, you can better understand your Linkedin audience and get an overview of all the key information they have added to their profile. A handy feature for basing any prospecting ad audience on.

6 new Linkedin updates for content creation

1. Create engaging organic carousel posts

You can now post a selection of documents which will show as an organic carousel post on your feed. Great for showcasing a lot of material or a selection of products or services.

2. Create engaging live videos with Linkedin live

To create some of the fastest-growing and engaging video content on the site, create a Linkedin Live event and fill in the form. This medium is perfect for maximising your reach and provides real-time content to your audience but note, you must first be approved to use it.

3. Use Linkedin polls to gain audience insight

When you create a post, you can do many things now from celebrating an occasion to sharing a document. One post you can choose to boost both engagement and insights, is a user poll whereby you ask a question and pose 2-4 options for people to vote on. The results then show in real-time as percentages but you can always generate more content by publishing your thoughts on the results at a later date.

4. Share Linkedin stories for up-to-date news or highlights

There are two types of Linkedin Story. The first, a Linkedin Cover Story, is a 30-second video you can use to introduce yourself and perhaps drop in a few career highlights. Those who have the feature but who are not connected with you will see an orange circle around your profile and a 3-second preview.

The other, more traditional story format is Linkedin Stories. Here you can lay text, filters and music over photos or videos to make 10-second clips in a similar way to other social media platforms. However, Linkedin Stories is now a premium feature but is worth investing in if you want to regularly highlight content for 24 hours at a time to create some additional impact.

5. Save posts for later in ‘My Items’

Similar to Facebook and Instagram, you can now save posts from your feed into folders to review later. The ‘My Items’ is a great area to store anything you find inspirational like great content ideas or something you find helpful such as training videos that widen your overall marketing knowledge.

6. Use topics in the new (2021) creator mode

If you are a content creator or are thinking of creating your own Linkedin content, then this is a helpful feature for growing your reach and followers. When you add hashtags to your posts, you will show within a topic, opening up your content to a wider audience. You can also highlight the topics you talk most about on your page to help more people find you and your content.

Whether you’re looking for freelance work, a new job or the right candidate, the useful Photo Frames feature will help save time and streamline the process. You can select the #OpenToWork or #Hiring photo frames to get more people to view your profile in their search for a potential freelancer, employee or employer
